Arnette Sherman I moved from Illinois to DeLand, Florida in 1977. I acquired my real estate license in 1979 and have been selling real estate in the DeLand and West Volusia area ever since. I am a member of the West Volusia Association of Realtors and received the Realtor Associate of the Year award in 1985. I was a charter member of the Realtors Honor Society and have been an officer and board member of our association. I currently serve on the Professional Standards Committee.
My husband Ed and I are very involved with the West Volusia Audubon Society. Currently I am Co-president and Ed is Editor of the newsletter. We are also members of the Museum of Florida Art and Friends of Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, where I serve as Vice -president. I am also on the board of MainStreet DeLand and on the board of the Animal Rescue Konsortium / Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in DeLand. I enjoy volunteering at community events like the DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts & the Wounded Warrior Project. Photography and bird watching are my favorite hobbies. I also enjoy giving presentations of my bird photography to local groups in the community to help promote conservation. I have three grown children and four grandchildren that all live out of state, in Ohio, New Hampshire & Washington. We enjoy visiting them we are able to. I really enjoy meeting new people and real estate offers me that opportunity. Over the years I have made many new friends while showing them property. I like the challenge of finding the right home for people and seeing them years later still happy with their choice. It is also rewarding to assist past clients with their new housing needs. I have been involved in home sales, new construction, land and commercial sales. Please feel free to call me with any questions regarding buying or selling property. I will be glad to assist you. Selling has been a part of life for 40 years! It started with appliances, then went on to paint, which progressed to home décor, and then 5 years ago Real estate. Real estate had been something I had thought about for years. I enjoy working with customers because it can be rewarding, when you find the right home and see the enjoyment it can bring. I work hard to make sure my customers get what they want for the best price. I came to Ed Sherman Realty with one thing in mind; I don’t want to get lost in the crowd! They are like family! I like it when I can make a call to the broker and he answers the phone. It’s nice to know you can get the information quickly, and accurate. As you probably know this is the strangest market, with all the ‘short sales’ and ‘reo/bank owned’ properties, it’s not business as usual. I have developed a network of the best people in the industry, inspectors, mortgage brokers, and title agents that will work hard for you, and make you dream come true. I believe that dedication and service is the ‘key’ to my success. I look at every option, and pull every last straw to make things happen. We know the right questions to ask and what answers to look for to make sure you can close quickly. I will guide you all the way! When I am not selling real estate I enjoy my family, my wife Pam of 37 years, my two daughters Candice and Amanda, their husbands, and my four grand children, cats, dog and fish. Pam and I enjoy traveling when we can, also boating, gardening, and are always looking for a good bargain! My other endeavors include working with Main Street Deland, mostly working with merchants getting façade grants, helping with putting color schemes together and helping get the financial packages put together. I have also worked on the design committee and the mural committee. Let me help with you with your next real estate transaction, you won’t get lost in the crowd! I look forward to meeting you.

I moved from Illinois in 1977. Arnette and I met in Illinois, but were married in Florida after we moved. We made our first money here by buying, repairing and reselling houses. We both obtained our real estate licenses in 1979 and opened our own office a year later when I passed the broker's test. After a number of years, I became more interested in other things, so we closed our office and I bought a portable sawmill which I ran for 14 years. A few more years sharpening sawmill blades and then a total hip replacement brings me back full circle to real estate. As all of this was going on, computers completely changed how real estate was bought and sold. I bought Arnette a computer knowing absolutely nothing about them. Because I have always wanted to know how everything works, I began acquiring broken computers, learning how to test parts, and reassembling them as working units. I took a number of classes at the local community college to get more answers and I now build and repair the computers and the network in our home office and am the webmaster for www.edshermanrealty.com and www.westvolusiaaudubon.org. Through the years my interests and hobbies have always centered on making things work. I built the house we live in and am capable of repairing almost everything in it. I understand good construction and how things can be improved. Even though I wandered off somewhat, I was never really very far from real estate. I have been assisting Arnette with her real estate sales from the very beginning. Ed Cell phone: (386) 748-2538 |
